About me

“Investigator” is one word that describes me the most. When I travel I make it my job to investigate a new place-find out everything I can about it from the past and present. It’s how I approach baking, movement, friends, and everyday life. I never want to stop growing, learning, gaining clarity and making things better-and this serves me very well into my work as a writers

I love the written word. I tend to think in stories, always coming up with new ideas-and so I never leave home without a notebook to capture these ideas onto paper as they appear.

Some of the biggest values that drive my life are being challenged, taking risks (while rooted in stability too!), having purpose, independence, and concentration. I am by nature an introvert, and can be completely filled up by getting lost in a book all day long. Or working on my current novel for hours on end with focused concentration. I get lost (and filled!) in words.

I never thought that something I am so passionate about could ever be my job because it has always come so easy to me. So I started my working career in a “should” job as a dental assistant. To fill my word passion, I have always made time as a side hustle to be a freelance editor, working with graduate students, doctoral candidates, and business offices. And for the last 10 years, I have also been a tutor and tutor trainer on the side at our local community college. I loved working with others on their “work”- and seeing them be proud of what they are creating through my help. I love this. I wanted to do this more-but in the world of adults and work and words. It gave me the clarity to take the leap to become a proofreader, copy editor to the public- full time. So here I am- writing my own novels, and helping others make their thoughts, ideas, stories the best they can be through offering myself to the world as “Consulting Editorial Detective”. Let’s make some changes in the world together with your words!

Influences

P2101282.JPG

I have lived a thousand lives through reading and feel that in order to be a better writer and editor, a healthy dose of books is what the doctor ordered.

Major influences in my literary life have been: Ernest Hemingway, Phillip Pullman, Tana French, Jane Austen, L.Frank Baum, J.K Rowling.

How I work

I believe writing is a collaborative process and while working with people I lean towards the belief that editing is not a solitary process, but a journey made together. I look to meet my clients needs by getting to know what they are looking for and work on making suggestions during the revisions.
